4600 - Network Infrastructure

4600 Netwrok Infrastructure Schematic

  • 3 x Pioneer 2160 classified modules (KP2160) each with battery-backed KlasRouter and HAIPE device. Either Harris SecNet 54 (KIV-54) or ViaSat KG-250X can be installed in Pioneer 2160 for HAIPE encryption.
  • Pioneer 1400 unclassified module (KP1400) with battery-backed KlasRouter supporting connectivity over Inmarsat BGAN and untrusted Ethernet.

The Pioneer 1400 (KP1400) provides a VPN router that can establish an IPsec tunnel to existing standards-based NIPRNet gateways and that is interoperable with products from multiple vendors such as Cisco and Juniper. AES-256 is supported in addition to ancillary features such as NAT traversal, VLAN and ACLs.

Module Ports

The KP1400 and KP2160 each provide 8 Ethernet LAN ports, 4 of which support Power over Ethernet (PoE). This allows for more than 25 users across all enclaves in addition to ports required for connection of KP2160 to the KP1400. Therefore, in normal configuration, KP4600 allows 4 PoE Ethernet ports and 4 non-PoE Ethernet ports on each of the CENTRIXS, SIPRnet and JWICS enclaves along with 4 PoE Ethernet ports and 1 non-PoE Ethernet port on NIPRnet. These ports are available for user laptops, VoIP/VoSIP phones, network printers and other Ethernet devices.

4600 Ports

The KP1400 NIPRNet module and the KP2160 SIPRNet module each provide PoE which can be used to power a SecNet 54. The KP1400 and KP2160 modules each provide 4 PoE ports supporting 802.3af. Up to seven KP2160 modules can be connected to a KP1400 module to allow simultaneous access to NIPRNet, CENTRIXS, SIPRNet and JWICS while allowing for future expansion. KP2160 and KP1400 are battery-backed and up to 5 modules can be simultaneously charged from KP-PSU-100. Therefore, simultaneous operation of each enclave is supported from both a power and data perspective.
