Providing communications in a rugged environment requires more the just designing equipment with good data rates or low bit error counts. A rugged communication device must be capable of operating in extreme environmental conditions and with little access to clean stable power. It must be flexible enough to be used with a wide range of power sources many of which may be intermittent or electrically noisy. The equipment must also be rugged and capable of withstanding physical ware and tear. Klas power capabilities have constantly out performed the market. Each solution is designed in tight partnership with our customer and so can be unique as their missions are. The KP2500 is reflective of the abilities of the in-house KLAS hardware team. This product operates either from wide ranging AC, 90-264VAC and 40-440Hz and wide ranging DC, 10-36VDC. The inputs are MIL-STD-461E and MIL-STD-1275B compliant and the system is designed to MIL-STD-810F. The system contains an integrated BB2590 rechargeable battery and charger circuit so unlike most other fly away cases the battery doesn't have to be removed from the unit for recharging. The KP2500 also acts as a UPS with instant changeover from AC to Battery or DC to battery without loss of power. The KP2500 also offers fixed 120V 60Hz power out on either AC or on DC providing conditioned electrical power to laptop or other routers that may be connected to the system. All of these features were designed and manufactured with constant customer input and feedback. Ultimately the power technology within this product was included because our customer considered it to be the best of all possible options that Klas presented them.
